In line with the recommendations made during the review mechanism process on the implementation of United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) and related with the regional and international recent developments together with the actual needs in the country as well, the Royal Government of Cambodia gave the responsibility to the Anti-Corruption Unit to draft the Law on Witness and Reporting person Protection. The ACU had created the legal team experts of ACU with the participation of legal experts from relevant governmental Ministries/Institutions, International Organization such as Transparency International Cambodia (TI) and United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNOHCHR). The team held many consultative meetings including the meeting led by Senior Minister Om Yentieng, President of ACU on the working progress of the review on the implementation of United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) by focusing mainly on points related to the Law on Witness and Reporting person Protection which was recommended through the review mechanism process of UNCAC. Specifically, in order to have a standard and comprehensive law, the working group of experts of ACU has studied and made the comparison on these referent laws of other 17 countries and the drafting team are working hard aiming to finalize the law in early 2017.
